Day by Day
How the trip actually unfolds.
Arrival
Via SGR to Tsavo, check in, lunch, afternoon game drive at Taita Wildlife Conservancy. Overnight at Kivuko Eco Camp (Full Board).
Trekking day
Early breakfast followed by trekking until the afternoon. Overnight at Kivuko Eco Camp (Full Board).
Return to Nairobi
Early morning hike, SGR train back to Nairobi. Overnight at Park Inn by Radisson Nairobi Westlands (Bed & Breakfast).
Crescent Island
Drive to Lake Naivasha, lunch, afternoon Crescent Island. Overnight at The Nest Boutique Hotel (Full Board).
Hell’s Gate activities
Full day at Hell’s Gate National Park — rock climbing, hiking, and biking. Overnight at The Nest Boutique Hotel (Full Board).
Nature walk with the Maasai
Drive to the Maasai Mara, afternoon nature walk with the Maasai. Overnight at Drunken Elephant Mara (Full Board).
Full day in the Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives across the magical Maasai Mara. Overnight at Drunken Elephant Mara (Full Board).
Cultural visit
Visit a Maasai village and the local village school. Overnight at Drunken Elephant Mara (Full Board).
Departure
Early drive back to Nairobi, lunch on your own. Transfer to the airport.
Practical Info
- Carry your passport, travel insurance details, and any prescription or preventative medication
- Bring a hat, sunblock, sunglasses, a camera, and binoculars
- Pack light — 15kg of hand luggage makes transfers between camps easier
- Wear neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, olive, brown) for game drives
- Keep a respectful distance and stay quiet near wildlife
- Carry cash (KES/USD) for tips and personal purchases
- Follow your driver-guide’s instructions at all times
- Confirm any dietary needs or medical conditions before departure
- Don’t stand up, lean out, or exit the vehicle during game drives
- Don’t feed or attempt to touch any wildlife
- Don’t use flash photography near animals
- Don’t wear bright colours or all-white/black on game drives
- Don’t litter in parks, conservancies, or camps
- Don’t stray from the group without your guide in wildlife areas
- Accommodation and meals as stipulated in the itinerary
- Pick up and drop off at the Nairobi hotel
- Transport in a chauffeur-driven Safari vehicle with a pop-up roof for easy game viewing & photography
- Services of an English-speaking professional driver-guide
- Game viewing drives and park entrance fees as indicated in the itinerary
